Though facts mean very little on this board--or the internet in general---i thought i would post in an effort to clear the air. i fully expect the "fuck you vagrant you ruined the band blah blah" posts to follow, so dont even bother ok? anyway, here are the facts.

and yes, they are true and yes i do know what im talking about because i happen to manage the alkaline trio.

Matt Skiba decided to replace Mike when the last tour ended. He called him on the phone and told him that he wasn't happy being in a band with Mike because they just didn't get along. In addition, Matt wanted to tour year round. Mike has a wife and a child and, understandably, did not want to leave them for long stretches.

The Alkaline Trio are not breaking up

None of this has anything to do with drugs. That is a ridiculous, unfounded piece of trash. Matt and Dan are not drug addicts. They drink copious amounts of alcohol and smoke a whole lot of pot. Big fucking deal. They have never hidden that fact.

Mike is being replaced permanently by Pete Parada. Pete is also the drummer in Face To Face. He will be in both bands now. Pete's first tour with the Trio starts tomorow on the Blink 182 tour. For Vagrant America and Plea For Peace, Pete will not be available because he will be recording the new Face To Face album. Atom, formerly of Rocket From The Crypt, will fill in for Pete for those tours.

Mike will be missed. Nobody likes to see relationships go south. But these things happen. Not everyone gets along. Matt, Dan and Mike are all incredibly nice, down to earth people. Actually they are some of the best people I've ever had the pleasure of working/being friends with. Sorry, but there is no more to the story than that.
