Joe Strummer's 1989 solo album Earthquake Weather has been given a new lease on life via the digital download service Rhapsody. The album, which was Joe's first proper solo record after a few years of post-Clash soundtrack work, has been out of print for 15 years and these days can sell for $75 dollars or more on the used market.
It featured Joe backed by guitarist Zander Schloss, bassist Lonnie Marshall and drummers Willie Macneil and Jack Irons. The Rhapsody version of the record features five b-sides recorded that same year, namely "Punk Rock Blues," "15th Brigade," "Cholo Vest," "Baby O' Boogie," and "Mango Street." The service's website unfortunately only allows tracks to be streamed within the US.
It would be nearly a decade after Earthquake Weather that Joe launched the Mescaleros with the Hellcat released Rock Art & The X-Ray Style.
