Recent Robotic Empire signing Matamoros has changed their name to Versoma.

The band explained the name change on their old myspace page.

Well it turns out the [name] 'Matamoros' has a literal Spanish translation. That translation is 'Moor Slayer' or 'Moor Killer.' If anybody needs a history refresher the Moors are a group of people that are both Muslim and North African.

Needless to say when we found out that our band name meant 'Moor Slayer' none of us even had to think twice about changing it. It's a fucked up name that we were ignorant of. We thought it was just the name of a town in Mexico. We're sorry if anybody was aware of the literal translation. It was certainly not our intent to offend anyone. We fully admit to our own ignorance and the only thing we can do now, is do the responsible thing and change the name.

The band includes members of Anodyne, Hot Cross, Lickgoldensky and Orchid and takes influence from Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine, Born Against, Unwound and Neurosis.

The band recorded the songs at Brooklyn, New York-based Translator Audio Studio and they will appear on the band's upcoming debut scheduled for a summer release.
