Influential punk/post-punk act Mission of Burma has announced some more details about their upcoming album, The Obliterati, which is due out May 23rd, 2006 via Matador.
The first pressing of the album will be packaged with a special live DVD; the disc will feature a high-definition, multi-camera shoot of the band performing at the Tsongas Arena in November 2004, and songs include "The Setup", "Wounded World", "That's When I Reach For My Revolver" and "That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate." The whole set will be available in 5.1 and 2.0 mixes.
On May 16th, they will also be hosting a listening party in the Enormous Room in Cambridge, MA. The night will include the album itself as well as DJ setsprovided by members of the band and DJ Carbo and a screening of the DVD itself. The band is promising more parties across the country though the dates/locations are still TBA.
Also in the works in a summer US tour that will eventually lead to the Pitchfork Festival in Chicago. The dates are expected very soon.
The band, who reunited in 2002 released OnOffOn in 2004, remarkable for being their first full length in more than two decades. Since then, the band has released a new retrospective titled
