Hold Steady, who signed with Vagrant Records last month, have posted an update on the progress of their new record and also announced some tour dates scattered throughout the summer.
They had this to say:
Day 5 of the new record. Banging this shit out. Things have been going awesome. 15 jams is a lot to wrap your head around. The relationship between John and Bobby has become quite a spectacle. Sitcom worthy. Some serious older brother shit. Initial tracking is always hardest on the drummer. We're all tracking together. And while ideally we'd like to be able to use all the original takes, Bobby's is really the most crucial. The rest of us can go back and either punch in, redo the entire take to the drum track, etc. But if Bobby ain't there, there's no point in keeping the take. We're out here until next wednesday and then we head back to Atomic in Brooklyn to finish up overdubs and vocals. It's funny how we're literally one mile from the Holland Tunnel but it seems like we're nowhere near home. Will be nice back to get back to Brooklyn. Though I'll miss Lance the dog.
The Hold Steady is currently preparing the follow up to last year's acclaimed French Kiss Records released Separation Sunday.
