Hold Steady have announced a fall tour set to kick off just prior to the release of their debut for Vagrant. The album, titled Boys and Girls in America and will hit stores on October 3rd. The record was produced by John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr., Jawbox, Patti Smith) and recorded at Water Music in Hoboken, NJ. The album also includes guest appearances from Soul Asylum's David Pirner and The Reputation's Elizabeth Elmore.
The album is the follow up to the acclaimed Separation Sunday. Band leader Craig Finn had this to say about the album:
"Boys and Girls in America" is a reference to a line from Jack Kerouac's classic novel "On the Road." The line goes, 'Boys and girls in America have such a sad time together.' Basically, the songs are about guys and girls, and love. It's not a concept-type record like the last one -- it's more of a theme record.
