"ok. at the risk of sounding like a complete ditz, this is pissing me off:"
Keep 'em coming, kids. Let all that aggression off of your chests and into your keyboards.

about two weeks ago i went to the mall with two of my friends. i'm not usually a mall kinda person, but there was absolutely NOTHING else to do, it was a very dismal day outside. (k, i'm done defending myself)
so we're at the mall, just walking around, none of us have money but we're looking anyhow. as a joke, we walk into delias, to check what the teenybopper crowd is going to be wearing this fall.

every single article of clothing was "cute", "designer", mass-produced, "punk" clothing. there were racks of plaid flares. every single tee-shirt was either cut or unhemmed to give it that oh-so-attractive "pre-worn" look. the only jeans they had were machine ripped, and then machine safety pinned. half the tops were held together by nothing more than safety pins.

the only thing missing from this disgusting display was jeans with bsb and brittney patches pinned on.

the whole thing bothered me for a couple reasons. whatever "punk" is to you, i hope it's more than a fashion statement. one of the things about punk music is that it's different than the run of the mill crap they play on the radio. not that everything on the radio sucks, just that so much of it is the same. and punk is all about being different, the music, the bands, the overall lyric themes, even the "fashion" that goes with it…it's about setting yourself a little bit aside from all that is mainstream. well, maybe that's just what it is to me.
anyhow, this whole punk is the next teen fad thing pisses me off, cuz it's just a bunch of 12 year old wanna be skanks saying, "i love "rock-show", tom's so hot!" so they go to the store and buy their jeans held together only by safety pins and walk around and tell themselves that now they're different, now they're really cool, cuz now they're punk.
