The famous Barbican Gallery in the heart of London, England, will be playing host to Panic Attack: Art in the Punk Years, an exhibit designed to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the summer of 1977, when "punk became an international phenomenon." It was notably the year the Sex Pistols released the "Anarchy in the UK" single.
Running from June 1st to August 31st, the show will feature memorabilia from The Clash and Sex Pistols including the band's distinctive clothing and graphic design.
The gallery adds:
This exhibition examines the influence on punk on the visual arts on both sides of the Atlantic. The punk phenomenon is most closely associated with music, fashion and graphics, but this exhibition argues that the punk label can also be applied to the art of this time.
