The Frames have set a February 20th, 2007 release date for their upcoming full length, The Cost. The album is the follow up to 2005's Burn The Maps and is also due out on Anti.
The Irish band recorded the album at France's Black Box Studios in March and April 2006, the disc continues the ongoing relationship with producer David Odlum - who played guitar in the band from 1990 - 2002 and past engineer Stephen Fitzmaurice.
According to frontman Glen Hansard, The Cost was recorded completely live:
People have told us in the past that we are better on stage than on record and it's true that the studio can kill the spontaneous feel of a song. So we rehearsed the songs until we knew them backwards, spent ten days getting all the sounds correct and then spent the next ten days recording the songs live, with no overdubs.
