V2/Artemis act Sugarcult have announced a virtual concert in Second Life in support of United Nation's STAND UP Against Poverty Campaign on October 14, 2006.
On October 14th, while playing a live concert at the Bamboozle Festival in Pomona, California, Sugarcult's performance will be replicated in , a virtual 3-D world that is inhabited by over 800,000 residents and supports millions of U.S. dollars in monthly transactions. A unique process will realistically digitize each band member in the virtual world to recreate the concert as it is performed live.
An initiative of the United Nations Millennium Campaign, STAND UP aims to set a Guinness World Record for the most number of people to STAND UP Against Poverty and for the Millennium Development Goals in the 24 hour period from 10AM GMT on Oct. 15 to 10AM GMT on Oct. 16. SUGARCULT's concert performance in Second Life on October 14th will be the first in a series of over 500 global STAND UP events that will follow on October 15th and 16th.
