Alkaline Trio will join the Smoking Popes for a special Chicago show at the Metro on New Year's Eve. Besides the show, which goes on sale Friday at noon, all attendees will receive a limited edition split 7-inch from both bands.

The Trio took a similar approach with a Halloween show a few years ago, and the disc, which featured the Misfit's "Children in Heat" and "Halloween" quickly became a highly sought after collector's item. Both bands have frequently sold out the venue independently, so the combined bill will likely sell out quickly.
