Melvins 1983 talk their new album, 'Thunderball'

Melvins 1983 talk their new album, 'Thunderball'

Today, The Melvins release their new album Thunderball. This one is in their Melvins 1983 incarnation, which for this record, is original, original, original Melvins guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Mike Dillard. They are joined by electronic artists Void Manes and Ni Maitres.

Interestingly, Thunderball finds Melvs '83 moving away from the punky humor of the first two releases under that moniker and into something darker and sinister.

Punknews' John Gentile spoke to Osborne and Dillard about the new release, the early day of the Melvins, and how the pair have remained pals for over 40 years.

Teenage Bottlerocket

Teenage Bottlerocket sign to Pirates Press, announce ‘Ready To Roll’

Teenage Bottlerocket are releasing a new album. Ready to Roll is out September 12. the record was recorded at The Blasting Room with our good friend Andrew Berlin, and had it mastered by Jason Livermore. Singer Ray had this to say about the new track: "“My wife Rachel loves to give me a hard time—she rolls her eyes when I rock out in front of the mirror, makes fun of the music I love, and calls me an old man when I bring up movies she’s never seen. And I totally love her for it. We talk shit while we drive, crank rad music, and laugh our asses off. This song is about all of that—it’s loud, fun, and full of personality. We chose it as the first single from Ready to Roll because it kicks the door open. It sets the tone for the whole record—fast, catchy, and not taking itself too seriously. Just the way we like it.” You can check out the new tune below.

Leftover Crack releases new song

Leftover Crack releases new song

Leftover Crack have released a new song. It's called "White Guilt Atrocity Quilt" and it's a stand alone, digital only single. The track finds the band taking a Slayer style riff and then discussing the bloody history of imperialism.

Singer Sturgeon had this to say about the track: "The new song by Leftöver Crack is about the history of the white self-proclaimed Americans and the injustice, displacement, genocide, rape, disease, enslavement, human commodification and trafficking, cruelty, brutality, exploitation, broken promises and vilification of the native indigenous population and the populations of African countries for the benefit of the privileged class and rich “elite” whites that behave no differently than the Europeans that forced them to seek a new world where they could live in peace and with the freedom to practice their religions and where they refused to pay financial tribute to British royalty only to demand that the subjugated peoples of this county fatten their own oligarchal coffers and bow down to their own demented dynasty’s while presenting a facade of caring about those that have been destroyed in their scorched wake."

The band also released a digital b-side, which is called "Brad Sabbath." Sturgeon briefly commented on that tune: "'Brad Sabbath' is about the mistakes inherent in following gods and their minced words used to justify so much grisly atrocity.”

You can hear both tunes below.
