Near MIss, which consists of two former members of Bigwig, have announced the dreaded "hiatus" in a message on their MySpace page:
the future is hard to tell in general but i think we will plan to play a last show or two with me and josh back in austin sometime after the summer..so we will post something about that as soon as we dial in a date..and who knows maybe a studio record eventually..we all are super tight friends and there are no bad vibes ..out reasons for not playing are beyond our control..The band released their last record, Testing the Ends of What They'll Put Up With, last year.
"so we've been contemplating what to say about our situation for a while now but really did'nt come up with an over all thing to say so i'm taking it on my behalf to explain the best i can…
in december 06 we all took time off after a long bad tour to be with our families for the holidays..i went to arizona to be with my mom, josh went home to atlanta and max and myke stayed in austin…the new year pasted and we got bad news from josh saying he wouldn't be coming back due to medical issues which i won't get into..this was a major bummer co'z we all had a special bond with him…this sucked co'z we where forced to play as a three piece again which we really did'nt like doing but we did anyhow to keep playing..
months later our first guitar player before sean filled in for us till we would find someone else to fill josh's shoes..dusty thanks again for that..
then in early march of this year me max and myke had a talk about plans for the summer and a new record..max was in the process of getting married and taking care of a bunch of legal shit in which he said he was'nt down to tour anymore and wanted to just stay local..this bummed myke and me because we loved touring ..the last thing we we're gonna do was try to find someone to take max's spot so we started planning on starting something new and fresh and take it to the road….
weeks later i get the worst news ever about my dad having a stroke..so i took upon myself to get the fuck out of austin to be there for him..so i went back to new jersey and have been here ever since..
the future is hard to tell in general but i think we will plan to play a last show or two with me and josh back in austin sometime after the summer..so we will post something about that as soon as we dial in a date..and who knows maybe a studio record eventually..we all are super tight friends and there are no bad vibes ..out reasons for not playing are beyond our control..
as far as new projects go i have started something called a balance between..it's me and my friend jeremy for the time being (acoustic stuff) www.myspace.com/abalancebetween .there are two songs up there right now and more to come..eventually this will be a full on band as soon as we find a bass player and drummer that is worth playing with..till then we're rocking out alone..
myke is planning on starting something as well in austin as far as i know and i'm sure he will post news on that when he gets it all locked down.
josh i believe is jamming with a friend jason from the amazing whippersnapper in atlanta and i'm sure if they start something it will be sick as fuuuuckkkk.
and max i'm not sure if he will continue to play drums/guitar/bass in a band but if he does you know it will be rad as well.
i hope this helps anyone out who has been confused about whats been going on with nearmiss…thank you to everyone who has ever supported us by buying a record, giving us a place to stay, feeding us , and fueling our vices..you all know who you are..you mean the world to us..
