"Just to let the world know, Omaha Nebraska's primary punk venue, The Cog Factory, recently was forced to shut their doors by the IRS claiming back taxes owed. The IRS came up with an outrageous figure of roughly $30,000 being owed, from a venue that is protected by non-profit status. The Cog Factory has been called by many bands "the Gilman Street of the midwest", and has hosted such national acts as UK Subs, AFI, Rancid, Lawrence Arms, The GC5, and many, many more…and now it is gone. Big thanks to the money hungry folks at the internal revenue service for this one."
That does suck. Now it's time for you Nebraskans to step up and start a new place. Get to it!
