LA supergroup Black President has signed to Cobra Music. The band features Goldfinger's Charlie Paulson, Christian Martucci of Strychnine Babies and the Dee Dee Ramone Band, Ty Smith of Guttermouth and Pat "PK" Kim of Unwritten Law. Previous incarnations of the group have featured Greg Hetson of Bad Religion.

Interestingly the group's name has caused somewhat of a stir given the upcoming US election. The band recently posted:

we're also not self–loathing whites or anti–american…we love this fucking country. having spent all of our adult lives playing for people all over america we know its cities, small towns, main streets & back alleys better than any of the puppets competing to run it. and as much as we care about america we also know that it is in dire need of a complete overhaul. when we came up with the name of the band senator obama had not yet announced his intention to run for office. it was just our way of saying america needed a change & we could think of nothing more indictative of change in a racist, soulless system than a BLACK PRESIDENT.
