UK ska legends The Specials will reunite for a tour later in the year. Frontman Terry Hall spoke to the BBC on Sunday. Hall commented:
Well we're still trying to put dates together, but hopefully September/ October time. We need to spend the Summer rehearsing… I think it's taken me 30 years to realise we could do it really well.
Can the band relive past glories without descending into parody? Hall stated "you do it with dignity or don't do it at all," citing the Pixies reunion and a recent Patti Smith performance of Horses as examples. There's no word on how that applies to the band's late 90s revival, nor is there a confirmation on the band's line up for this year's shows.
Hall and rhythm guitarist Lynval Golding made a surprise appearance together at last year's Glastonbury Festival, their first apperance together in 24 years. The pair appeared with Lily Allen to perform "Gangsters" and with Damon Albarn of Blur and The Good, the Bad and the Queen to perform "A Message To You, Rudy."
