Sean McGrath, who is/was a member of a number of several New Jersey bands, including Mouthpiece, the Alps and Saves The Day, is in the hospital with serious kidney problems resulting from cancer of the digestive system. A post by a friend of McGrath can be seen here. A benefit to help cover the staggering hospital bills is being organized.

Local musician and friend, Sean McGrath (former Saves the Day, The Alps), is currently lying in the ICU at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. He's been hospitalized for the past 2 weeks due to possible kidney failure, collapsed and swollen organs. I went to see him in the hospital this weekend and it was among the most heartbreakingly shocking things to see. He's lost 25 pounds in the past month. His skin has turned a shade of green and his eyes are yellow.

Today Sean went into a 10 hour "exploration surgery" so the doctors could figure out exactly what's wrong with him.

Basically, this is going to cost him and his family a fortune of somewhere near half a million dollars.

I'm reaching out to you - those in the industry and those who know people in the industry - to help me out. David Pfeffer, Bruce McDonald, Ed McKirdy, and I are trying to put together a benefit concert for Sean and his family to help them raise money. If there's any way you can help us out: you're in a band that would play the benefit, you manage a band that would play, you are the publicist of a band that would play, or you can help us put things together such as book a venue - any thing… please contact me. Any sort of help you can toss our way is appreciated.

Thanks for your time!
