I dare anyone to find cooler news than this all week long…

On November the 15th Joe Strummer and the Mecaleros played a benefit show for the Fire Brigades Union in London at the Acton Town Hall. The band played a full set to a very receptive crowd. Strummer expressed his support for the striking firefighters, commenting that public sector workers need to be treated better and are entitled to a decent standard of living. As the band came back on stage for their encore and began playing the famous Clash single "Bankrobber" the crowd was treated to something special.

During the song Clash guitarist Mick Jones joined Joe on stage for the first time in nearly twenty years. The crowd exploded as the duo performed "White Riot" and "London's Burning" together once again. The webmaster of Strummer's official website spoke to Joe and Mick afterwards. They said that the reunion had not been planned and Jones was at the show simply as a guest. Mick said the moment just felt right. Check the band's website for some pictures from the event.

Update: Just to help stir rumors, this was in Rolling Stone's article on this mini-reunion, "Neither Strummer, Jones or other Clash members Topper Headon and Paul Simonon has yet committed to performing when the band is inducted into the Hall in March, but Strummer did say that he would support a one-night reunion."
