Hello everyone and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back in the week in Punknews. I'm Brittany Strummer and I'll be your guide through some of the juiciest, most popular and otherwise noteworthy stories from the last seven days. Remember, every Punknews story is built from tips from our wonderful, good-looking readers, so get to submitting. Here's what got the strange, slow and old community talking this week:
- Mike Reynolds, guitarist for Christian hardcore act, For Today, released a slew of homophobic tweets stating that homosexuality is a sin which incidentally caused him to leave the band. Check out his full statement here
- Bad Religion released a new song from their upcoming full-length, True North.
- Bad Religion's Epitaph Records labelmates, Off With Their Heads, also released a new song entitled "Nightlife" from their upcoming release, Home.
- And if those 2 new songs weren't enough for you, Olympia, WA punks, RVIVR, also released a new song entitled "Spider Song".
- Dine Alone Records announced the signing of Canada's Single Mothers.
- The iconic David Bowie announced details for his first new record since 2003's Reality.
- Cobra Skulls decided to take a break from their never-ending tour schedule to begin writing some new material.
With that, we hand over this Sunday evening to the Punknews community, where anything is possible, from the next amusing-then-overwrought meme, to the creation of bands and message boards, to alienating sports chatter. So talk amongst yourselves, spin some tracks in the Navel Gazing turntable.fm room and we'll see you Monday morning.
