Director Danny Garcia has announced and released details about Looking for Johnny, an upcoming biopic on New York Dolls / The Heartbreakers guitarist Johnny Thunders. The film follows the story of Thunders from his early days in rock up to his 1991 death. The film includes interviews with Sylvain Sylvain, Lenny Kaye, Walter Lure, Billy Rath, Bob Gruen, Terry Chimes, Alan Vega, Malcolm McLaren and others.

The film will also be paired with a soundtrack to the film. It's out October 7 and you can find pre-orders here and here.

This film was previously shown in limited screenings. Garcia previously directed the film The Rise and Fall of the Clash. Of course, if you haven't heard New York Dolls, you really should get on that.
