As some of you Smashing Pumpkins fans may know, frontman Billy Corgan is a big fan of professional wrestling. Previously, he was TNA's “Senior Producer, Creative and Talent Development." Well, Corgan just got a promotion to President of Impact Ventures, the parent company for TNA. In a press release, Corgan stated, “I believe in this company, its passionate fans, the talented roster and the dedicated staff and crew. I am committed to this great opportunity and will use all of my resources and connections to drive the success of this company. This year we have made significant strides in establishing a strong foundation for our future and will be aggressive in continuing to evolve and grow the IMPACT brands.”

As a side note, it seems to the Editors here at Punknews that the connection between music (and more specifically punk/indie/alt music) and wrasslin' has become more and more pronounced over the past five years. Do you have a hypothesis to explain this phenomenon?
