Yesterday was David Bowie's birthday. Tomorrow is the first anniversary of the Starman's death. What a mix of emotions! To help you work out your feelings, Punknews is pleased to debut a new song by Medium Mystic… and it's a Bowie cover, naturally!
Medium Mystic is the Brooklyn duo of Brenna Ehrlich (that's her as Bowie's Jareth at age 8 in the photo there) and Morgan Enos. In order to pay tribute to the goblin king, they dug deep and recorded a cut of "Bombers." "Bombers" was originally supposed to open side two of Hunky Dory, but for unknown reasons, was cut from the album and released as an obscure promo single. For their take, Medium Mystic take the tune's glam rock roots and rough it up with a little lo-fi punk barbwire.
Medium Mystic is playing Brooklyn on January 30 with Twiga, Early Riser, and La Peche. You can get tickets for that right here. Meanwhile, check out the duo's cover of Bowie's "Bombers" below!
