Neil Young has canceled this year's Bridge School Benefit show. The show, which would have been the 30th benefit in the last 31 years, benefits special needs children. The show series, which is held in Mountain View, California, features Neil Young as a host and performer, and also features a wide range of acts which often perform sets unique to the show. Bands that have performed include David Bowie, No Doubt, Billy Idol, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, Bruce Springsteen, Arcade Fire, Tom Waits, Elton John, Metallica, Pearl Jam, the Smashing Pumpkins, Brian Wilson, Green Day, and more.
Young stated that he was canceling the benefit for "personal reasons" and will not be involved with the fundraiser in the future. The Festival was founded by Young and his now ex-wife, Pegi Young and has run nearly annually since 1986.
