Tiny Mix Tapes has premiered a new song from Tough Age, titled "Piquant Frieze." It'll appear on the band's upcoming new full length Shame, due on October 20 via Mint Records. You can hear the song at Tiny Mix Tapes, it follows the earlier preview track "Me In Glue" which can be found at Consequence of Sound.
If you were a fan of Tough Age's 2015 full length I Get The Feeling Central you've got some catching up to do. In the years between then and now the band pulled up stakes from their home of Vancouver and relocated to Toronto. With the move came a pretty major lineup shift, with the group pairing down to a three-piece comprised of guitarist Jarrett Samson, bassist Penny Clark, and drummer Jesse Locke. Samson and Clark are sharing vocal duties. Locke you may know from Century Palm and as the champion of the reunited 70s proto-punk act Simply Saucer.
The band will launch the new record with two (pre)release shows this week. On Friday night they'll be at Toronto's Baby G with Future Punx, Eyeballs, and New Chance. On Saturday afternoon they'll play a matinee at the cassette store Dupe Shop with Jock Tears and Protruders.
