There's mention of the upcoming album from The Cure in the new issue of Rolling Stone. The record, currently untitled, is due next spring. According to Robert Smith "It's going to be a very heavy album… Cure heavy, not new-metal heavy."
The magazine also has the Cure frontman critique his imitators, in particular Interpol, Hot Hot Heat, AFI and The Rapture. Smith is kind in his comments and proposes that "This sudden groundswell must've come from kids listening to Disintegration and then growing up and starting bands." On AFI Smith says "I've never gotten into them before, but their new album is really good. It's just real - real songs with real passion. It's great to sense that kind of emotion on a record." On Victoria's Hot Hot Heat he comments "They have a very complete sound - it's as if they've played their songs forever. Their album is very self-assured. They sound more grown-up then they are."
