The nominations for the 33rd annual Juno Awards have been announced. The awards are produced annually by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS). Of interest is the Alternative Album Of The Year category, in which The Constantines' Shine A Light [review] and The Weakerthans' Reconstruction Site [review] are both nominated. The Constantines were previously nominated for their self titled album in 2002. The Weakerthans were nominated in 2001 for Left and Leaving, losing to The New Pornographers' Mass Romantic. Last year the award went to Broken Social Scene's You Forgot It In People, which beat out Hot Hot Heat's Make Up The Breakdown [review].

You can check out the nominees for all of the awards here, you'll find a strong showing from mainstream acts Sum 41 and Billy Talent in many of the major categories. The awards take place on April 4th in Edmonton, Alberta .
