Adam Eisenberg

Adam Eisenberg

Today, Collector's Corner returns and we focus on one of our own: Adam Eisenberg! At the 'org, Adam E serves as copy editor, combing over every single letter to make sure everything is up to Blue Book standards. He also edits reviews on Tuesday and Thursday and is a regular podcast panelist. He is also a mega Public Image Limited fan and was hip to Downtown Boys before pretty much everyone else. What I am saying is that he often discovers cool bands early on, and then the rest of us hear what he likes and act like we were down from day one when really the last "new" band we knew about was GBH.

You can see Adam E's segment below.

Joe DeCarolis

Joe DeCarolis

Once again, we are back with a new installment of Collector's Corner, the feature where we ask musicians, DJs, producer, and fans about their record collections. Today, we talk to Joe DeCarolis of Psychic Teens and Hurry!

Psychic Teens are a far out group that merge the flashier side of 80's goth with driving punk and metal. Plus, they have a killer self-run light show and they all wear dark glasses, so their live set is super spooky. This band is weird! (and cool!) Joe lives in New Jersey and is often seen creeping around Philadelphia or at house shows. You can read our interview with him about his collection below.

Mick Sleeper

Mick Sleeper

And today, we continue Collector's Corner, the feature where we talk to musicians, DJs, producers and fans about their record collections. Today, we're talking to Canadian DJ Mick Sleeper!

Mick Sleeper is the guy to go to if you want to learn about reggae. For years, he ran the Soul Shakedown Party radio show on CJSR where me mixed reggae classics with the rarest of the rares. Now, he runs the Bass Culture podcast where he plays heavy dread reggae, early ska, African funk and a little bit of Clash. On top of that, he created Upsetter.net which is a BOON for reggae fans. If you are just getting into Jamaican music, has has some great "intro courses," playing for you all the legendary songs. After you graduate that, he's got some programs that are straight up doctoral level reggae programs. And our favorite part? Sleeper has an entire, in-depth section dedicated to the history and discography of, perhaps, the greatest record producer ever, Lee "Scratch" Perry. You need to check out his site.

Meanwhile, you can read Sleeper's Collector's Corner segment below.

Dominic Davi

Dominic Davi

Today we're starting a new regular weekend feature at Punknews: Collector's Corner! Inspired by an old feature that used to run at Vinyl Collective years ago, Collector's Corner will be a feature that talks to musicians, DJs, label owners, artists, and fans about their record collections. (And by "record," we mean vinyl, CD, tape, etc… we're not prejudiced!)

We kick off the feature with an interview with Dominic Davi! Dominic is a punk rock champion! He started the kick ass pop-punk band Tsunami Bomb and toured with them all over the world. Now, he's a record label don, working on the inside at both Alternative Tentacles and Kung Fu Records! Did you like the last World/Inferno Friendship Society record or the latest Circle Jerks reissue? Dominic had a hand in that. (What must it be like to have both Jello Biafra and Joe Escalante as bosses?!) On top of that, he's got a new band called Crash & Attack who are currently working on their first full length. You can read our interview with Dom about his collection below.
