• The Pukkelpop festival in Belgium was the site of another unfortunate stage collapse that killed five and injured 75
• The Mighty Mighty Bosstones are working on a new album
• Misfits announced their first new album in ten years, The Devil's Rain

Q: I have a hard time accepting that the thoughts expressed during the podcast are not of punknews. can you give me insight on why is that? A: They're the views of whoever independently expresses them. Punknews.org as a whole remains neutral which maintains our journalistic credibility and also keeps us from being sued for spouting bullshit when we're trying to be funny.

• The Sony DADC warehouse in London was destroyed, claiming physical product from several prominent indie labels. Later in the week, Gang of Four bassist David Allen weighed in on the situation.
• Ben Weasel broke his radio silence four months after the SXSW incident to reveal what's he "learned" in the meantime
• Pat Kim and Steve Morris left Unwritten Law after an altercation with frontman Scott Russo
• Australia's Soundwave Revolution festival was cancelled after headliner Van Halen pulled out of the gig
• Banner Pilot detailed their new album, Heart Beats Pacific
• Finally, the Spotify discussion became interesting this week after Century Media removed their catalogue from the service; Spotify themselves issued a rebuttal of sorts. We talked about it on this week's Punknews Podcast.

Q: How did one particular style of punk rock (gruff, melodic, aka "org-core") become so synonymous with Punknews when the staff themselves seem to have much more diverse tastes? A: That style seems to resonate with our community--commenters, twitter followers, etc.--and even though those users constitute a very, very small section of our total readership, they're often the loudest so some folks will peg us as that site. It's fine. We don't really spend any time thinking about it beyond having to answer this question.

• Green Day got out the vote to win Rolling Stone's poll for "Best Punk Band", a result completely without controversy
• St. Catharines, Ontario-based Alexisonfire called it a day after ten years together
• The Weakerthans' John K. Samson continues to hate Winnipeg, especially the Jets' new logo and despite the fact that the NHL franchise was always lousy anyway
• It was a big week in Blink 182's camp, as the reunited group debuted a fan-made, AT&T-assisted-for-some-reason video for "Up All Night" as well as a new song, "Heart's All Gone"
• Chuck Dukowski of Black Flag unveiled his latest project, Black Face
• The Clash's "London Calling" is ironically being used in promotional ads for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, as we breathe a collective sigh and wonder what Joe would think

Q: do you guys ever not review albums so that you don't piss off the label and/or artist? i feel that has happened when i see some bigger artist albums not get reviewed…. A: No. This 100% does not happen. I'm not going to throw around some facade of professional journalism, but we do pride ourselves on trying to be honest. If we can't publish negative reviews, what good are any of our positive ones?

That said, our reviews tend to be user submitted, so if someone takes the time to write a review it's probably positive. In a handful of occasions a bigger band may have put out an album that many people consider bad and due to that fact no one reviews it because no one wants to sit around and review what they consider a band's worst album. But no, if a review is well done and happens to be negative we will not avoid publishing it for fear of hurting someone's feelings.
