Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: What has given Gaslight Anthem the impression that American Slang is better than it's predecessors? A: Really?

Okay, you're in a band. You just released your newest album, you were just working on and perfecting those songs, and they perfectly represent you and your soul and deal with everything you've been thinking about AT THIS MOMENT.

You put it against your other albums, and they don't even seem to hold a candle to it. Those old albums, to you, are dust.

And then some kid says, "Nah, your old albums were better." -Jesse

Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: What would you consider to be the best year for music so far? A: Loaded question. '77's the easy answer for any punk, but there have been some great years since then (1979, 1982, 1984, 1988, 1994, and 2001 were all up there and wouldn't be wrong). It really just depends on when you really got into punk (or music in general, I guess).

I'm partial to 2003 because it was my most formative year: I graduated high school, began to seriously delve into punk and its subgenres thanks to the Internet, and some of my favorite records of all time ("As The Eternal Cowboy," "The Greatest Story Ever Told,", "Exit English," "CVA," "Deja Entendu," "Anthem," "Revolutions Per Minute,", "Streetcore") were released that year and really helped mold me into the jaded curmudgeon I am today. -Bryne

Here's your question and answer of the week from the Punknews Formspring:

Q: In addition to the news / premieres podcast, have you thought about doing a bi-weekly or monthly music-only podcast? Those smarmy indie rock kids have hundreds of podcasts, but great punk music ones are non-existent. A: We haven't, actually. I think right now, we feel like a hybrid music/talk format is the best of both worlds, but that doesn't mean it won't change. It's simply too early in the process to know. And there ARE some great music-heavy punk podcasts out there. Try Rocket Fuel and Monumental Tracks if that's what you're looking for. -Bryne
