Hello everyone and welcome to Navel Gazing: your look back in the week in Punknews. I'm Bryne Yancey and I'll be your guide through some of the juiciest, most popular and otherwise noteworthy stories from the last seven days. Remember, every Punknews story is built from tips from our wonderful, good-looking readers, so get to submitting. Here's what got the strange, slow and old community talking this week:

• Alkaline Trio is aiming to "re-imagine" old favorites for their latest project. We're all officially old.
• Hot Water Music, Lifetime and Against Me! were among the bands confirmed for Fest 10, sending the community into a tizzy.
• Title Fight detailed their first-ever headlining tour, which will feature support from Touché Amoré, The Menzingers and Dead End Path.
• Speaking of The Menzingers, they were one of the latest bands to be added to Warped Tour 2011.
• Green Day debuted what has got to be the eighth or ninth iteration of "Cigarettes and Valentines".
• Dear Landlord announced some North American tour dates. Still no word on whether or not the group will be appearing at this year's Gathering of the Juggalos.

Q: why do many musicians today admire joe strummer more than henry rollins or ian mackaye? is it cause Joe is no longer alive? A: It's all a matter of opinion. As far as punk icons go, they'd all be on my Mt. Rushmore. There's plenty of praise to go around for all of them, and I feel like it does. Strummer's reach with The Clash was a little wider than those of MacKaye or Rollins with their respective projects, so maybe that has something to do with him being perhaps more influential.

• Bill from Evil Weevil Records punked us into thinking that his label would be releasing Offspring LPs for Record Store Day, tearing our relationship apart like an old sweater.
• Rise Against unveiled another new song from Endgame, "Architects"
• The Swellers are recording their new album with Bill Stevenson.
• Lifetime, Bad Astronaut and Brendan Kelly were among the acts announced for the inaugural Pouzza Fest.

• Lauren Denitzio of The Measure [SA] published an essay on her experiences with sexism in the punk scene which provoked (mostly) a healthy discussion of the issue in our community.
• AFI frontman Davey Havok will be taking a turn as the lead in the Broadway production of Green Day's American Idiot, giving credence to the rumors that eventually, everyone who wants a turn playing St. Jimmy will, in fact, receive one.
• Ashlee Simpson filed for divorce from Pete Wentz and that's the last we're ever going to speak of it here.
• Rise Against will be joined by Bad Religion and Four Year Strong on an an upcoming tour.
• Screeching Weasel unveiled their first new song in 11 years, "Beginningless Vacation"
• The once-popular Guitar Hero video game series has been discontinued.

Q: I like to stay out of pit. Sometimes, a guy in the pit will get too rowdy and slam itno me really hard because he doesn't seem to care who he hits. In that case I enter the pit and slam into that person w/ the intent to hurt him, and often do. Am I evil? A: Evil might be a little harsh, but that's definitely some knee-jerk, reactionary, "stoop to their level" type BS and in that situation, you're no better than the person you're intending to hurt.

Violence is dumb. Fighting violence with more violence is dumber.
